After an acting career that has spanned 50-plus years, Bruce Dern figured his big roles were behind him. Then he landed the leading role in Alexander Payne’s “Nebraska.”
Now finds himself in the running for an Academy Award as best actor. Dern talked about his career and what “Nebraska” has meant to him in the cover story for OscarWrap: The Race Begins.
During the photo shoot on the Paramount lot, Dern told a story of how he once consoled Marilyn Monroe as they walked the streets of New York City after a class at the Actors Studio. It was a story that required repeating, as Dern retold it at TheWrap’s screening of “Nebraska.”
