Michael Bay’s ‘Welcome to Yesterday’ Release is Postponed

Paramount has postponed the Feb. 28 release of the Michael Bay-produced sci-fi film “Welcome to Yesterday.”

The studio is looking for a new date for the found-footage project about teens building a time machine, an individual close to the project told TheWrap. Late summer or fall would seem the most likely.

The delay will allow Bay, who has been working on the studio’s June 24 release “Transformers 4: The Age of Extinction,” more time to focus on the low-budget project, known at one time as “Almanac.”

Paramount also plans a co-promotion with MTV Films, a sibling from the studio’s corporate parent Viacom, on youth-targeted marketing for “Welcome to Yesterday.” That teaming worked very well for last year’s surprise hit “Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa.”

Platinum Bay’s Brad Fuller and Andrew Form are producing with Bay. Dean Israelite is the director.
