A&E Developing Drama About Fallen Angels

A&E is looking to get angelic with its latest project.

The network is developing a script for a drama titled “The 36,” which takes place in the world of fallen angels, and is rooted in Jewish mystical thought.

These dark angels, or Nephilim, are all around us and only kept in check by The Righteous 36.

The drama centers on Dane, a complicated hero who soon learns that he’s right in the middle of this battle for the soul of mankind. It is based in New York.

The A+E Studios project is being written by Charley and Vlas Parlapanides (“Immortals”), with Groundswell Productions’ Michael London (“The Illusionist”) executive producing.

In somewhat related news, the network is also developing an edgy reboot of the series “Highway to Heaven,” which starred Michael Landon as an angel who’s sent back to earth on probation.

Deadline first reported A&E’s “The 36″ development.
