Nina Tassler has been promoted to chairman of CBS Entertainment, signing a new agreement that will keep her with the company through 2017, CBS Corporation president and CEO Leslie Moonves said Thursday.
Tassler is the longest-serving broadcast network head, and leads the network with the largest total audience. Last season, it was also the highest-rated in the key 18-49 demographic. She joined CBS in 1997 as vice president of drama for CBS Productions and became president of CBS Entertainment in 2003.

Her tenure at CBS has included developing the hit “CSI” and “NCIS” franchises, and as CBS Entertainment president she introduced hits such as “The Big Bang Theory,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “The Good Wife” and “Undercover Boss.”
In her new position, she will lead CBS’s entertainment programming across primetime, daytime and late night, as well as program development in all genres. She will continue to report to Moonves, and will oversee entertainment division matters in advertising, promotion, business affairs, consumer products, digital, diversity, publicity, scheduling and research.
Tassler recently created CBS’s Limited Series & Live Event Programming unit, which has several projects in development for next year, including the mini-series “The Dovekeepers.”
