History’s drama “Vikings” returned strong with its Season 2 premiere on Thursday, drawing 3.6 million total viewers.

Of those, 1.7 million total viewers were in the 18-49 demographic, and 1.8 million were in the 25-54 demo.

Those numbers were far short of the “Vikings” series premiere last year, which had 6.2 million total viewers. However, that premiere had the benefit of the tremendously popular miniseries “The Bible” — which drew 13.1 million total viewers — as a lead-in.

Compared to the final four episodes of “Vikings” Season 1, which didn’t have “The Bible” as a lead-in, Thursday night’s Season 2 premiere was up 2 percent in total viewers and 6 percent in the 18-49 demo.

The Season 2 premiere performed evenly with last year’s Season 1 finale, which also drew 3.6 million total viewers.
