Seth Meyers averaged 2.7 million viewers in his debut week, giving him the second-best “Late Night” ratings in seven years. He was only topped by Jimmy Fallon’s farewell week, according to Nielsen data released Saturday.

Fallon also remains on a roll: His average of 5.5 million viewers for the past week was the biggest “Tonight” audience in four years, except for Jay Leno’s final week and Fallon’s first.

For its second week — and first without an Olympic lead-in — “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” earned a strong 1.8 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, according to live plus same day ratings from Nielsen. It was the most-watched “Tonight” week, excluding the debut week and Jay Leno’s final week, since Leno returned to the show in the first week of March 2010.

The debut week of “Late Night with Seth Meyers” averaged a 1.0 rating in the 18-49 demo. Meyers had the show’s best ratings, aside from Fallon’s last week, since Feb. 12-16 of 2007.
