It was a rocky first week for MSNBC’s two new shows.

“Ronan Farrow Daily” and Joy Reid’s “The Reid Report” both turned in first-week ratings well below their respective timeslots in 2013.

Farrow’s show, which aired at 1 p.m. ET, averaged 243,000 total viewers and 55,000 in the key 25 to 54 news demo for the week. Those figures represent a 40 percent and 42 percent drop, respectively, over “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” which occupied the timeslot in 2013.

“The Reid Report,” which followed Farrow at 2 p.m., fared much better in total viewers with an average of 286,000 for the week — an 8 percent decline from “News Nation with Tamron Hall” in 2013. Reid’s demo figures were also better than Farrows, if only slightly: the show averaged 63,200 viewers aged 25 to 54, a 38 percent drop from last year.
