Rob Ford Was ‘A Little Upset’ After Volunteering to be Roasted By Jimmy Kimmel

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford may have been laughing while Jimmy Kimmel roasted him in Los Angeles on Monday night, but he was reportedly “a little upset” after walking off stage.

“He’s a little upset,” Ford’s city councilor brother, Doug, told the Toronto Sun just after the interview on Kimmel’s ABC late-night show. “But he’s OK.”

The reporter noted he overheard the troubled mayor — more famous for smoking crack than serving his constituents — saying he was “set up” in the background, but did not sound angry.

Of course he was set up. The interview wasn’t just a comedic ambush from Kimmel, it was a gauntlet that Ford voluntarily ran through.

”Don’t get me wrong, I’m glad that you are here, but why are you here?!” Kimmel asked his guest. “What good could come of this? Have you ever seen this show?”

By the time Ford had gotten to the Los Angeles International Airport, however, he dropped any minor complaints he may have had over the harsh interview.

“It was fine,” Ford said. “Jimmy’s a comedian and he was just doing his job.”

Ford told the Canadian news outlet that it was his brother that was actually upset.

“I told him, ‘What are you upset about?’ No big deal. I was fine,” Ford said. “There was some tough questions but it was fun. I had a blast.”

So back to Kimmel’s curious inquiry. Why would Ford ever agree to sit down with a man who takes every opportunity available to make fun of him?

“I really wanted to promote Toronto on the show and I think I did that,” Ford said.

Councilor Ford also changed his tune when speaking to a different Canadian publication.

“Jimmy Kimmel — nice guy. Compared to the Toronto media, that was like a church picnic,” Ford told CBCNews. “The only thing we’re disappointed about is that we wanted to pump Toronto more.”
