Arsenio Hall and R. Kelly opened Thursday’s “Arsenio Hall Show” by reminiscing about their firsthand memories of Nelson Mandela, and Kelly revealed that he once performed in the South African president’s living room.
Kelly met Mandela during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and said he used Mandela’s own piano to perform a song he wrote for him, “A Soldier’s Heart.” The lyrics of the song describe how “the mountains seemed impossible to climb until he stood on the front line.”

The words echoed a Mandela quote that began the show: “It always seems impossible until it’s done.”
