Dan Bucatinsky, whose Emmy-winning role on ABC's “Scandal” (spoiler alert) came to a sad end Thursday, has joined the David Caspe NBC comedy pilot “Marry Me.”

Bucatinsky will play “Kevin Two,” husband to “Kevin One” (former “Saturday Night Live” star Tim Meadows) — and father to Annie, played by Casey Wilson (“Happy Endings”).

The single-camera comedy centers around Annie and Jake (Ken Marino of “Children's Hospital,” and “Burning Love”), who quickly realized being engaged is tough. The pilot was written by Capse and is being produced by FanFare Productions and Sony Pictures Television.

“Sure, I'm playing another husband of another gay guy and I'm one of two dads named Kevin to Casey Wilson, who's hilarious, but I read that pilot over a month ago and it was probably one of the funniest things I've ever read,”  Bucatinsky told TheWrap.

“I was laughing out loud on the first page. That rarely happens. To be truthful, I just wanted to work with them — David Caspe, and [executive producer] Jamie Tarses and people I really admire,” he added.

Bucatinsky won an Emmy for his recurring role as White House press secretary James Novak.

Bucatinsky is repped by Joe Cohen and Michael Catcher at CAA.
