Entertainment Weekly laid off several staffers Wednesday as part of a continuing restructuring of the magazine, including longtime film critic Owen Gleiberman.

Gleiberman had been at the magazine since its launch in 1990.  Prior to joining EW, he worked at the Boston Phoenix, an alternative weekly newspaper.

Staff writer Annie Barrett and music critic Nick Catucci, who were also let go Wednesday, confirmed the news via their Twitter accounts.

An EW spokesperson has not yet returned TheWrap's request for comment.

As TheWrap previously reported, EW has undergone a series of changes over the past year, as its publishing unit Time Inc. prepares to spin itself off from parent company Time Warner.

In January, Jess Cagle was promoted to editorial director, putting him in charge of People as well EW. Weeks later, Matt Bean was named editor of EW.

Those changes followed the 2013 departures of EW's longtime television critic Ken Tucker, who left after 24 years. Tucker's departure came a week after film critic Lisa Schwarzbaum, a 22-year veteran, said she was leaving to pursue new writing opportunities.
