Quentin Tarantino's “The Hateful Eight,” a leaked script that has led to the filmmaker's lawsuit against Gawker Media, will be spotlighted outside of a courtroom on April 24 with a world premiere staged reading, Film Independent announced on Thursday.
After the screenplay leaked online, Tarantino decided not to make the film — and he has sued Gawker for writing about and linking to the script. That suit recently received a court date of January 2015, although the judge also moved the matter to private arbitration.

The staged reading will take place at the Bing Theater at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, where Film Independent has held the popular series of Jason Reitman-directed staged readings of such screenplays as “The Big Lebowski,” “Reservoir Dogs” and “The Usual Suspects.”
The FIND press release describes the plot this way: “‘The Hateful Eight’ follows the steadily ratcheting tension that develops after a blizzard diverts a stagecoach from its route, and traps a pitiless and mistrustful group which includes a competing pair of bounty hunters, a renegade Confederate soldier, and a female prisoner in a saloon in the middle of nowhere.”

Proceeds from the reading will support the programming efforts of Film Independent at LACMA.
