Literature's most frightening creatures come to the small screen when Showtime's “Penny Dreadful” premieres on May 11, and now the network has released a behind-the-scenes look at the series to prepare fans for what's to come.
In the series, which stars Josh Hartnett, Eva Green, Timothy Dalton and others, creatures such as Dr. Frankenstein and Dorian Gray have become embroiled in Victorian London.

As creator John Logan notes, ”Penny Dreadful” will strike a balance between remaining faithful to the source material and forging a new path for the series.
“One of the joys of ‘Penny Dreadful’ is where we come into sync with the classic text and where we deviate,” Logan notes in the footage.
