Daniel Tosh finally broke his silence Friday over the accidental shooting death of production assistant John Winkler.
“Only had the privilege of working with John Winkler for a short while,” the Comedy Central host tweeted. “We extend our heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends.”

Winkler was mistakenly gunned down by Los Angeles sheriff deputy on Monday after they mixed him up for a knife-wielding assailant. Winkler had been attempting to help a friend who was being held at knife-point when police mistook him for the attacker and fired at him.

Comedy Central also released a statement to the press extending their thoughts to Winkler's family.
“Comedy Central and Tosh.0 extend their deepest condolences to the family of John Winkler,” the network said in its statement. ”We only had the privilege of working with him for a short while and extend heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends during this tragic time.”
