Science Channel has named Rita Mullin its new general manager.
Effective June 2, Mullin will replace former general manager and executive vice president of Science Channel, Debbie Adler Myers, who had spent six years with the cable channel.
Mullin has worked at Discovery Communications for 18 years. Most recently, she served as the executive vice president of programming and development at OWN.
“Rita has a passion for storytelling that is the core to the Science Channel audience,” said Discovery Channel's Science and Velocity group president, Eileen O'Neill. “With nearly 20 years of non-fiction television experience, she has an innate curiosity that will drive the Science Channel to the next level.”

At OWN, Mullin's projects included “Welcome to Sweetie Pie's,” “Six Little McGhees,” “Our America with Lisa Ling,” and “Life with La Toya.”
“Rita joined our team in 2012 on loan from our Discovery partners and has been instrumental in shepherding some of the network's most popular programs, helping to establish Saturday nights as destination viewing for the network,” OWN and Harpo president, Sheri Salata, said.
