CBS’s daytime programming scored its own bragging rights last week, with the network’s talk show “The Talk” hitting a series high in weekly viewership, averaging more than 3 million viewers for the week for the first time.

For the week ending Jan. 12, “The Talk” averaged 3.06 million total viewers — a 21 percent leap over the previous week and a series high in weekly viewership. In the women 25-54 demographic, “The Talk” averaged a 1.2 rating — a 20 percent improvement over the previous week and a tie for the show’s best performance in the demo. The latest ratings has “The Talk” gaining on ABC rival talk show “The View,” which averaged 3.51 million total viewers and a 1.3 rating.

Meanwhile, NBC soap “Days of our Lives” enjoyed a milestone last week, drawing its highest ratings in the key women 18-49 demographic in more than two years.

For the week of Jan 6-10 — which saw the introduction of Guy Wilson as the new Will Horton, following Chandler Massey’s departure — “Days of Our Lives” averaged 688,000 viewers in the demo. That marks the series’ best weekly performance in the demo since the week of Nov. 21-25, 2011, when it averaged 703,000 viewers in the demo.

Sixteen weeks into the season, “Days of Our Lives” is averaging 705,000 viewers in the demo — its best performance up to this point in a season in three years, since the 2010-2011 season, when it was averaging 797,000 viewers in the demo at the same stage of the season. In terms of total viewers, the soap is averaging 2.9 million, its best performance for a season up to this point in four years
