ESPN’s “First Take” producer Jamie Horowitz is one of the candidates vying for the vacant role of senior vice president and executive producer for “NBC’s” Today.
Horowitz hasn’t been hired, but he’s definitely one of the candidates being considered for the executive role at the morning show, individuals with knowledge of the situation told TheWrap.
NBC is actively searching for a replacement for former “Today” show executive producer Alexandra Wallace, who just a couple weeks ago was elevated to the newly created position of senior vice president of news for the network.
“Alex Wallace will formally deputize for me and serve as my back-up in times that I am unavailable,” NBC News president Deborah Turness said in a memo obtained by TheWrap earlier this month.
“As SVP News, she will become the General Manager/360 Leader for ‘Nightly News’ and ‘Meet the Press,’ and will lead all our editorial and political coverage out of the DC bureau,” she continued.
Deadspin first reported that Horowitz is up for Wallace’s former position, which oversees “Today” at the executive level and has no production role on the show. “Today” executive producer Don Nash would report to whomever is hired into the position.
NBC News and ESPN declined to comment on Horowitz’s candidacy for the “Today” show executive role.
