The last day of open enrollment on HealthCare.gov hit a snag Monday morning.
The website suddenly stopped accepting new applications and a message displayed on its home page that notified visitors that technicians were performing maintenance.
“System isn't available at the moment. We're currently performing maintenance,” the site said.

A spokesman for the Department of Health and Human Services told The New York Times that “the enrollment system on the site, HealthCare.gov, was taken offline for scheduled maintenance between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m., but then remained down for several more hours because of a software bug discovered by technology personnel during maintenance.”

“HealthCare.gov marketplace application and enrollment system is currently unavailable. The tech team is working now to bring the system online as soon as possible,” the Department added.
“The website is operational now, as of 8:47am ET,” Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services spokeswoman Patti Unruh told TheWrap.
The White House's countdown clock was also plagued by glitches Monday morning. The clock displayed 15 days instead of 15 hours.
While both problems were corrected, it was an inauspicious deadline day for the site that infamously launched with many tech problems.
