Starz has lost its “Fortitude.”

Due to production changes, the cable network says it will not be airing the crime series “Fortitude,” which was scheduled to premiere in the fourth quarter of 2014.

The 13-episode series was to be the first co-production between Starz and Sky Atlantic.

“Due to changes in the Sky Atlantic production of ‘Fortitude,’ Starz will not be licensing the series in the US,” the network said in a statement. “The series will now be a fully funded Sky project for Sky Atlantic.”

The network added that it will “fast-track several projects that have been in development for its 2014 programing slate.”

The two companies will “continue to discuss other projects, and very much look forward to collaborating again in the future,” Starz noted.

The series, from Simon Donald — whose credits include the 2006 TV movie “Low Winter Sun,” which was adapted into an AMC series this year — is set in the Arctic town of Fortitude, which has never experienced a violent crime until the murder of a British research scientist touches everyone in the town and threatens its future.
